It’s Official! Sport Clips 700th Store Opening Event Makes Guinness Book of World Records

January 23, 2011 – Nottingham, MD (January 21, 2010) – Sport Clips Haircuts in Nottingham was recognized this week by Guinness with the “World Record for the Most Consecutive Haircuts by a Team in 12 Hours.” The record-breaking event, benefiting the Baltimore Orioles REACH Foundation, was part of the franchise’s national 700th store celebration held this summer. Sport Clips is the nation’s largest men’s and boys’ hair-care provider, and the Nottingham location opened in July as the franchise’s 700th of its current 751 stores. Sport Clips is known for its sports-themed, guy-friendly environment and has stores in 38 states, including 16 locations in Maryland.

“We are so excited to have set this record for Sport Clips. Thanks to everyone around the area that helped put this store on the map by participating in the haircut event that marked our grand opening and the 700th store for Sport Clips,” says Gary Pfaff, owner of the White Marsh Sport Clips store. “We appreciate the clients, stylists, officials, media, and Orioles’ representatives that made the event exciting and successful.”

During the event, several current and former Baltimore Orioles baseball players including Scott McGregor, Jason Berken, Rick Dempsey, and Dave Johnson were on hand, along with the team’s Bird mascot, while stylists worked from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. to set the record. By the day’s end, the team completed a total of 329 haircuts.

In exchange for a free haircut, clients were encouraged to make a $7 dollar donation to the Orioles REACH Foundation. A check for $10,000 from the proceeds was presented at the team’s home game on July 23 by Sport Clips Founder and CEO Gordon Logan, Maryland Area Developer for Sport Clips Wayne McGlone, and local store owners Gary and Susan Pfaff.
