Mark and Dawn Kelly, who both formerly served in the United States Air Force, have become franchise owners, partnering with Mission Viejo-based TeamLogic IT to open a location in Colorado Springs. The retired military couple has received the first of ten franchise contracts through the TeamLogic IT Veterans Program

Through TeamLogic IT’s Veterans program, the company is awarding ten franchises to qualified military veterans and waiving the $40,000 franchise fee required to open a new location.

The Kellys have more than 30 years of experience in the armed forces between them. Mark, a retired Air Force Colonel, spent 25 years flying F-111, F-4, and F-15E fighter aircraft, logging more than 3,000 flying hours, and earned the 1989 Robbie Risner award as an outstanding graduate of the USAF Fighter Weapons School. He has also participated in three major American military operations, including Operation Desert Storm during the war in the Persian Gulf in the early 1990s. Dawn, an expert in information technology with multiple certifications, served as a systems analyst in the Air Force for eight years.

“The TeamLogic IT franchise gives us the opportunity to become business owners, with the added security of a proven business model and support system,” Mark said. “Both Dawn and I will be able to use our experiences, hers in technology and mine in leadership, to run our business and that is what really drew us to TeamLogic IT, along with their no-franchisee fee program for Veterans.”

The Small Business Association reports that about 25 percent of the nation’s veterans are interested in the entrepreneurial career opportunities through starting or buying their own business. Following his retirement from the armed forces, Mark earned a masters degree in engineering.

“All of us at TeamLogic IT are elated to have two individuals on board with us who have served our country considerably. Their combined experience with leadership and IT makes them the perfect fit for a TeamLogic IT franchise,” said Chuck Lennon, president of TeamLogic IT.

The TeamLogic IT Veterans program is awarding franchises –– with no franchisee fee –– to the first ten U.S. military veterans who apply and qualify for the program before December 31, 2012.
