TikTok Glitch Makes Videos Disappear—What Happened?

TikTok Glitch Makes Videos Disappear: This week was pretty rough for TikTok. The app was really slow. Some videos were not getting any views at all. It all started on Sunday, January 25. Things were still bad, on Monday, January 26. TikTok had some issues that made the app slower and caused some TikTok videos to show zero views.

TikTok said the problem happened because the power went out at one of their United States data centers. So what is a data center? It is a building that stores all the information for TikTok like your videos, your messages and your likes. When the power went out at this data center some TikTok features did not work the way they should. For example loading videos on TikTok did not. The “For You” page on TikTok did not show up. This was the reason why people had trouble using TikTok. The problem was with features like loading videos on TikTok and showing the “For You” page, on TikTok.

The outage caused a lot of problems. One website that keeps an eye on app issues said that than 585,000 people had problems with TikTok within 24 hours. Some people who make videos for TikTok even saw that they had zero views or likes on their videos but TikTok said this was just a mistake that would be fixed and that all the real views and likes, on TikTok were still there.

Some people were worried that they could not see news or political content on TikTok. Others thought that certain videos were being hidden from them.. Tiktok said that the problem was only caused by the outage, on TikTok.

This thing happened a few days after the people who own TikTok in the United States changed. The company that owns TikTok, which is called ByteDance made a group and this group is mostly owned by people from America.

TikTok is going to be part of this group and it includes big companies like Oracle and Silver Lake.

The main goal of TikTok is to keep the information of users in the United States safe and make sure TikTok follows the rules, in America. TikTok wants to do this so that people who use TikTok in the United States can feel safe when they use TikTok.

By Tuesday January 27 TikTok said they had made progress fixing the problem with TikTok but some things on TikTok might still run a little slow. TikTok promised to keep working to get everything back, to normal on TikTok.

So, if your TikTok videos looked funny or slow this week, don’t worry—everything is getting fixed, and your views and likes are safe!
